Dialogues with … Medication

Why?

Whilst medication remains one of the core tools of the mental health system, dialogues about it can easily become binary and disconnecting. People differ in their perspectives on whether or not it should be used, how it should be used, its purpose and how it might work. For many valid reasons, feelings around medication can be strong. How do we hear all of the voices so we can move forward to informed choice, in a genuinely collaborative way?

This 1-day experiential workshop will explore how the ideas and practices of Open Dialogue can resource us and create genuine dialogues around medication, offering support for both personal and professional relationships.

When?

9am – 5pm (UK time) on the 15 October 2026 (online), book online at https://www.tixtree.com/e/dialogues-with-medication-8b2abae262e5

About the workshop

This participatory workshop explores core skills and understandings underpinning the Open Dialogue approach. We will explore how dialogical practice offers a way to explore the complexities of these options and decisions. In this workshop, we offer a relational and network approach to understanding medication in context.  We will discuss common challenges and traps in these dialogues, and explore ways to navigate ethically and transparently.

All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the course, and access to an online resource pack including slides and relevant articles.

Who?

This workshop is suitable for anyone wishing to learn more about Open Dialogue. People with Lived Experience (personal or as a supporter) are welcome, as are those who come from professional backgrounds – in health services, social care, community and the voluntary sector
